The Oxford Radiology Research Unit (ORRU) is located in the Radiology & Imaging department at the Churchill Hospital. We operate in partnership with the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), Oxford Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) and the University of Oxford.
The unit conducts cutting-edge research studies to explore new ways of imaging the body. Most notably ORRU is a leader in state-of-the-art imaging trials involving hyperpolarised xenon gas which is being utilised in research examining Long-Covid in hospitalised and non-hospitalised individuals.
I was really pleased to be part of a research study during the pandemic. I’ve been feeling breathless so it gave me hope that the team at ORRU were working on a new way to image lungs affected by long-Covid.
